Nathan left work early to meet the repair man who, I was told, would be at our house between 3:00 and 4:00 but would “shoot more towards 3:30″ according to the lady I talked to at the shop.
Nathan was home at 3:15. At about 3:50 he called me at work. “The guy’s not here yet,” he said. Since it wasn’t 4:00 yet we decided to give them more time before we called the shop.
At 4:20 I called Nathan who told me the guy still hadn’t showed up so I called the shop. The woman who answered the phone said she’d call Mr. Tardy to see what the hold up was and call me back. I told her to please call my husband since he was the one at home waiting for the guy.
Nathan called me a few minutes later to ask what the deal was. I told him the shop was going to give him a call to let him know the repair guy was en route or stuck at McDonalds or whatever, but by quarter to five Nathan had not received one phone call from the repair man or the shop.
At that point I called another shop and set up a tentative appointment on Friday to have them come out. I then called the first shop to cancel. “I just got off the phone with him and he told me he’s there,” said the shop lady.
“Can I put you on hold for a minute?” I asked.
“Sure,” she said.
I dialed Nathan on another line. “She told me he’s there. Is he?” I asked.
Nathan went out into the garage. “There’s no one here,” he said.
I got back on the line with the Mistress of Lies. “My husband is standing in our garage and there’s no one there,” I said.
“Hmm, he must have meant he was in the area,” she said, “I’ll give him a call to see where he is and call you back.”
“You know what…” I said
“It’s not going to work out?” she asked
“No it’s not. My husband took off work early to meet this guy and he’s still not there. We’re going to call someone else.”
“I don’t know what happened with him, but I understand,” she said.
We would have stuck with them if they had just communicated with us, but we didn’t get one phone call with an explanation or an apology. Communication is vital, people! Just to show them that, I’m communicating to everyone I know to never call that particular shop for repairs.
I won’t tell the internet though. That would just be mean.
