This morning Autumn and I found ourselves switching roles. She was dressed and ready to go a half hour before we had to leave. I was not.
The child was anxious to get to school. She loves her teachers and misses them the entire 48 hours she is forced to spend time with her parents. This morning instead of me urging her to hurry up, it was the other way around.
After several rounds of impatient pleading, Autumn finally became exasperated with my repeated assurances that I was almost ready and said, “Let’s just go now!”
I was in the bathroom wearing only my undergarments and turned to face her.
“Do you really want me dropping you off at school looking like this?” I asked.
She looked me up and down.
“Yes.”
“Oh really?” I asked. “What would your teachers think of your mother if she showed up in just her bra and panties?”
Autumn considered the question, grinned and said, “That she’s awesome.”

That is so awesome! My daughter is typically the same way except when it comes to my hair — she insists I “make my hair look normal” the minute I climb out of bed!
