One of my New Year’s resolutions has been to get our financial house in order. Nathan and I started Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” at a local church last week and have dubbed 2009 as “Our Year Without Stuff.” Our definition of “stuff” is pretty broad; DVDs, iTunes purchases, electronics, books, random crap for the kid whose crap already litters our floors and frequent excursions out to eat when we’re too lazy to cook. Basically we’re putting an end to spending our money on non essentials and will be compiling one hell of a Christmas list to hand out to relatives later this year.
In an attempt to turn over this new leaf I’ve decided to go back to couponing. I had a brief foray into the world of power couponing late last spring and found it very hard to tear myself away when my schedule got extremely busy. My schedule is still pretty packed, but I can turn a deaf ear to the call of the scissors no more. It’s time to replenish my stores.
If you’ve ever considered couponing but didn’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place. Well, not my place but rather this infinitely helpful place we call the interwebz. There’s an entire subculture out there devoted to using coupons and store incentives to purchase things for next to nothing. And we’re not talking about crap you’ll never use. Most, if not all, of it is stuff you use on a daily (or, ahem, monthly) basis.
Let me direct you to Lindsay over at Frugal and Fabulous. This woman has couponing down to a science and has an entire room in her house devoted to her massive stockpile. Go check out her pictures and tell me you’re not impressed. She bought all that stuff for pennies on the dollar and can easily shop from her “CVS Room” when she doesn’t have the chance to go to the store. But something tells me that doesn’t happen to often, does it Lindsay?
The great thing about Lindsay and those like her is that she is more than happy to teach others how to snag those great deals. Check out yesterday’s short tutorial on how to get started CVSing (yes, the store name has evolved into a verb) and then explore her blogroll. One great couponing site will inevitably lead to another and another and so on.
Before you know it, your spine will tingle at the sound of these two words: internet printables.
I kid you not.

I think I’d better get on this, as I spend way too much money on….everything. Instead of actually trying to spend well this year, we’re doing vacations. No wonder why we never have money in savings.
Coupons, here I come!
Just what I need…another online obsession! Well, at least this one will save me some money. I love justification!

You said it sister!!!!!!! Who knew pieces of badly printed paper could be so valuable.
Thanks again!
Lindsay
