I have used mybloglog and feedburner, but have yet to figure out how to actually read the information it gives me… perhaps you can give us a mini-tutorial on that?

thanks for the info. I too have been struggling with privacy and want to protect my posse. I would like to limit my information in my posts, but it spews forth uncontrollably. “…crazy hag hunched over her computer…” HA! This made me laugh out loud. I say its your right to “hag away”!

I would hope by this point most people know that what they do online is most likely being tracked by someone, but I’m sure this post opened a few eyes!

I may just upgrade to something like Mint this next year – I didn’t know of that tool and was using Woopra which was free and pretty cool until recently. All of a sudden their stats just aren’t as thorough as they used to be!

Heather-I love your blog post on this. I’m sure the IP-blocking info is good for every blogger to know. I don’t need it now, but have had an interesting visitor to my site recently. They posted comments, but did so anonymously. I know from what they said, though, that they knew me from Twitter. (They commented on info that I had only posted on Twitter not my blog.) As it would happen, I’m having a blog re-design right now & my tracking tools were disabled when they visited. Figures!

Also, thanks for the heads-up on Mint. I had not yet heard about their site.

I’m like you and I love to thoroughly go through my visitors every morning, and it’s amazing what some people come to sites like this to look for. I’ve seen some of the strangest searches on my different blogs, it always makes me wonder what exactly they are trying to find. But I’ve never seen anything threatening enough to block an IP for it! At first I thought this was all comical, but when searches were adding “cute” and “kill” after my daughter’s name? Now I’m hot. More than hot, but I’ll keep my language to a minimum on here. To me, that’s a threat and I’m ready to fight dirty.

It is scary to see some of the search words that lead to your (my) blog, isn’t it?

I’m curious about Mint. I actually bought a license for it a while back but I never managed to get it to work on my blog. Is there a good place to look for instructions?
